If you have just obtained a Fargo ID printer to make your employee or staff identification cards, you are probably busy designing your card and printing the first test prints. Working with badges is interesting. You can make badges unique to your organization and you may even want to have different badge designs distinguishing levels within your organization.
The Fargo printer is similar in many ways to your office laser or inkjet printer. The printer can often fit on a desktop. It can print from any software program on your Windows printer.
An importance difference in ID card printers vs other office printers is that the ID badge printer requires a clean environment to continue to print clear, colorful cards. The professional quality ID card printer does require a cleaning on a routine basis to ensure that the internal printer components are free of dust, dirty and oils from hands.
To keep the Fargo card printer clean, follow the steps below to ensure your printer is cleaned correctly.

4. Insert the cleaning card into the single feed card slot until the card stops.
5. From your computer, open the printer driver and select “printing preferences.”

Cleaning the printer on a consistent basis is one of the best things you can do from your printer. By following the above steps at a recommended 1,000 cards printed, you will find that the ID card printer system including the printer and ID card software will remain printing your needed cards time after time. Some printer models may have additional or different recommended procedures. If so, please follow the appropriate operations manual from your printer model.
